A group of residents who spoke against the recently
approved 420-home development near Mission San Luis
Rey has filed a lawsuit against the city
They claim the city violated the California Environmental
Quality Act, because it failed to consider the environmental
impacts of the development, failed to develop and circulate
an environmental analysis, and failed to consider alternatives
and mitigation measures.
The group, known as Citizens for Improving our Historic
Lands, is comprised of residents of the nearby San Luis
Rey Mobile Homes. They have retained Delano and Delano,
an Escondido-based firm that specializes in environmental
and land use law.
They are requesting that the city's decision be invalidated,
and stop any development of the site.
This is the second lawsuit Oceanside faces over the
approval of a large project.
